Niyama is a Sanskrit word that comes from Indian Yoga Philosophy, that refers to a set of personal habits that help encourage a healthy life, in both body and mind. In other words; Niyama means good habits.
At Niyama we are all about good habits and self-care, and we want to make them simpler and more enjoyable – because if you look forward to something, it’s much easier to make it a habit, right? We create products that are effective, so you know they are working, and in the case of our products with a flavour experience, we make them delicious, so that you want to take them, not just take them because you know you should.
Niyama supports your self-care from head to toe, supporting an active lifestyle and nourishing your overall well-being.

We believe in nourishing your whole self – your body, your mind, your soul. To us, that is the essence of self-care. And we’ve got a hunch that you believe in that too.
Self-care starts with good habits – or Niyamas, if you will.

Nourishing beings with a whole food diet – heavy on the plants, low in sugar and anything processed. You may be vegan or vegetarian, or you may be simply trying to incorporate more plants and reduce your animal consumption. All are welcome here. No dogma and no preaching. As Michael Pollan says, “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.”

Next comes mindful movement. Whether that is yoga, Pilates, barre, weight training, running, spin, HIIT, or long walks in nature, mindful movement gives us so much – a calmer mind, a happier, kinder soul, and a leaner, healthier body with better mobility and strength. Numerous studies have shown how beneficial it is incorporate movement and exercise into our lives – at least 20 minutes a day is recommended.

Good quality sleep and enough of it, is so crucial to self-care, and so many of us are not getting the needed 7-9 hours of good, deep sleep that we need to function at our est. And everything is just harder without good sleep.
Managing stress is also key. Creating niyamas that help you deal with and lower your stress levels has to be part of any good self-care routine – because stress is pretty much unavoidable, so having strategies to manage it goes a long way towards feeling good.

All of our natural supplements, teas and body care products are made in Canada, and 100% plant-based. Natural wellness solutions to help you move better, sleep better, and live better.

We source our accessories, gear and lifestyle products directly from responsible producers overseas.

Real gratitude, not just good manners. Feeling thankful and appreciative of all that we have received in life, and all that has brought us to where we are now (even the hard stuff) is an important part of self-acceptance. And experts have found that practicing gratitude is positively linked to greater happiness and well-being.

Real-self-care, not just as a justification for over-indulging in online shopping or spa visits. (Ok, occasionally guilty!) It’s easy to neglect taking care of ourselves because our lives are so busy, and self-sacrifice and overwork have achieved such “badge” status, that taking time out feels like slacking. But self-care isn’t slacking - it's crucial – and it’s not a reward, it’s a must. So, eat well, prioritize sleep, go for a walk outside, do yoga, spend time with people you love, and learn to say no. That’s right, NO. Self-care keeps your stress in check and keeps you functioning at your best.

Being honest in what we do and say, practicing full-disclosure, and using clear communication. We commit 100% to list each and every ingredient contained in Niyama Yoga Wellness – everything.

To our customers and community, to our suppliers and collaborators, to family, friends, strangers, animals, and our planet. And to ourselves. Kindness is contagious – and costs nothing. If you can be anything, be kind.

Every single human life has equal value. Period.

Such an over-used word, but what does it really mean? To us it starts with quality ingredients – the best we can source, for all of our products that you put in or on your body. All our supplements are licenced by Health Canada and created in a properly inspected, state of the art GMP certified facility licensed by Health Canada, with each product scrupulously verified using strict controls, and then tested with stringent quality assurance methods right to the end of each product’s expiry date. What does this mean to you? It means that you can trust these products, and every single ingredient in them to be safe and beneficial for your health until the end of its expiry date.

To us, innovation is about providing better solutions to existing or new needs – with the goal of helping our community move, sleep and live better. We promise to keep improving our current products when new ingredients or studies become available, and to continue seeking out new ways to nourish and support your wellness in new ways, now and in the future.

1% for the Planet is a member-based nonprofit organization where businesses all over the world commit to donating 1% of their annual sales — not profit… sales! — to environmental nonprofit organizations. These organizations work on issues that focus on bettering the planet like climate advocacy, food policy, wildlife restoration, and much more. Through active and engaging partnerships between businesses and nonprofits, this global network puts their money where their mouth is.

Which means consumers do, too. Every time an individual buys a product that sports the 1% for the Planet logo, a portion of that product’s proceeds go towards protecting and rejuvenating Mother Earth.

Niyama is all about wellness and creating natural products to help us move better, sleep bette and live better.  But without a healthy planet to live on, our own healthy habits start to feel myopic, and disconnected from the whole picture.  As a brand, we use only the most recyclable packaging possible, with the least footprint.  And we are committed to offsetting that footprint too - by giving back 1% of all our revenue - whether we profit or not - and partnering with non-profits in Canada to help improve the health of our planet.

Niyama is proud to help support the work of New Leaf Foundation, a Canadian charity dedicated to making yoga and its benefits accessible to underserved communities

New Leaf Foundation is an innovator in Canada. Their unique approach creates a web of support through long-term frontline programs in priority schools, alternative education initiatives, low-income communities and youth justice settings, as well as training opportunities for young leaders and youth caregivers.
