Niyama™ Yoga Wellness is a line of natural health products designed and formulated to support the health and wellness of people who practice yoga.
नियम literally means positive duties or observances. In Indian Yoga tradition, Niyamas are recommended activities and habits for healthy living, spiritual enlightenment and a liberated state of existence.
These professional quality, made in Canada, natural nutritional supplements were created specifically for the yoga community and are available online and in select yoga and movement studios.
They will help energize, rehydrate and replenish, promote muscle recovery, and protect joints from wear and tear so you can sustain your practice at any age.
Niyama™ Yoga Wellness will nourish and support a sustainable yoga practice and extend its benefits into your off-mat lives.
NOURISH YOUR PRACTICE
We can sum up our philosophy in a word – Nourish. We believe in nourishing your whole self – your body, your mind, your soul. And we think you might believe in that too – after all you found your way to yoga!
Yoga gives us so much – a calmer mind, a happier, kinder soul, and a leaner, healthier body with better mobility and strength.
Many styles of yoga can be extremely physically demanding – building strength, stamina, flexibility and in the process sweating lots!
All good things of course – but feeding your body is super important too – nourishing your body with the right nutrients will help you get more out of your practice – and help you sustain it over your lifetime!
That’s where Niyama™ Yoga Wellness comes in. Professional quality natural health products that are made in Canada, plant-sourced, and formulated specifically for Yogis.
Natural wellness solutions to help energize, rehydrate and replenish, promote muscle recovery, reduce stress, and protect joints from wear and tear so you can sustain your practice at any age.
The Niyama™ Yoga Wellness Promise
You get out of life what you put into it right? Pretty much true in everything – relationships, work, your practice, whatever you do. So, whatever is truly important to you deserves your best. And that is how we approach Niyama™ Yoga Wellness.
Only the best goes in. Because what we put in determines what you, the Yogi, gets out of it. Ingredients are SUPER carefully selected – as much for what they contain as what they don’t.
OUR MISSION & VALUES
To nourish & support Yogis on their path to sustainable wellness. Both on and off the mat.
If we don’t have our health, we truly have nothing. But wellness is more that the absence of disease. Wellness is defined as “the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal.” So yeah, it takes some effort. But it’s sooo worth it.
We mean authentic gratitude, not just good manners. Feeling thankful and appreciative of all that we have received in life, and all that has brought us to where we are now (even the hard stuff) is an important part of self-acceptance. And experts have found that gratitude is positively linked to greater happiness and well-being.
Real-self-care, not just as a justification for over-indulging in online shopping or spa visits. (Ok, occasionally guilty!) It’s easy to neglect taking care of ourselves because our lives are so busy, and self-sacrifice and overwork have achieved such “badge” status, that taking time out feels totally like slacking. But self-care isn’t slacking - it's crucial – and it’s not a reward, it’s a must. So, eat well, prioritize sleep, go for a walk outside, do yoga, spend time with people you love, and learn to say no. That’s right, NO. Self-care keeps your stress in check and keeps you functioning at your best.
Being honest in what we do and say, practicing full-disclosure, and using clear communication. Easy to say, but sadly not the norm in people or products. We commit 100% to list each and every ingredient contained in Niyama™ Yoga Wellness – everything.
Canadian founded, owned and operated. All our products are made in Canada and all our supplements are licensed by Health Canada. We believe in the Canadian values of openness, respect, compassion, willingness to work hard, being there for each other, and searching for equality and justice.
To ourselves, to family, friends, strangers, animals, and our planet. Kindness is contagious – each act of kindness creates a ripple that moves outward, wider and wider, farther and farther. Let’s pay it forward yogis!
Such an over-used word really, but what does it mean? To us it starts with quality ingredients – the best we can source, then Professional grade, made-in-Canada, GMP manufacturing processes – in a properly inspected, state of the art facility licensed by Health Canada, with each product scrupulously verified using strict controls, and then tested with stringent quality assurance methods right to the end of each product’s expiry date. What does this mean to you? It means that you can trust these products, and every single ingredient in them to be safe and beneficial for your health until the end of its expiry date. That’s quality at Niyama™
Niyama™ Yoga Wellness products are based in science – every single ingredient in our products is there for a scientifically derived reason. All our product claims are science based, the formulations and ingredients are supported by clinical studies and/or monographs, and are licensed by Health Canada.
To us, innovation is about providing better solutions to existing or emerging needs – with the goal of improving the lives of Yogis – on and off the mat. Niyama™ Yoga Wellness makes innovative solutions available to support the needs of Yogis – and we promise to keep improving our current products when new ingredients or studies become available, and to continue seeking for new ways to nourish and support your practice, and your off-mat lives in the future.
Much of what we know about natural healing has been passed down through centuries, generation to generation, in the form of Traditional Medicine. Be it Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Aboriginal, European, or Traditional Herbal medicine, there is so much value in these tried and true remedies – and so little in the way of side effects that it just makes sense to make them part of your own wellness regimen. Nature is powerful. Respect to the Mother.
Jillian first started practicing yoga in the late 1990’s while in her 20’s. Through exploring different styles of yoga, she fell in love with the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa, but also enjoys Hot Yoga, Restorative and Hatha.
Jillian practiced regularly for almost a decade until her practice was completely sideswiped by the double hit of young children and intense career demands. Long days at the office, frequent work travel, balanced by joyful weekend-morning family cuddles replaced sun salutations and headstands for a time.
In 2017 Jillian fulfilled a long-held dream of completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and began leading vinyasa classes part-time. Jillian is grateful to many teachers on her journey so far including Ian MacDonald, Cynthia Funk, Ron Reid, Marla Joy, and most significantly David Gellineau.
Career-wise Jillian has 20 years’ experience in the Natural Health & Nutrition category; beginning her career in Sales and Brand Management and advancing to Executive level positions in Marketing and Innovation.
Jillian has benefited from working with both specialty and mainstream natural health brands including Quest Vitamins, WEIL Nutritional Supplements, Progressive Nutritional Supplements, and Jamieson Vitamins.
In her 12 years at Jamieson, Jillian led the launch of over 150 products, from concept stage through to launch execution, with support campaigns across a variety of media including TV, Print, Social, Digital, Out of Home.
Jillian holds a BA from University of Toronto, an MBA from Schulich School of Business, a Diploma in Nutritional Management from George Brown, and a 200H YTT from Downward Dog.
Jillian lives in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood with her husband/soulmate, their four dynamic and seriously awesome children (she does admit to bias here), and two adorable but naughty cats.
